The Owasso Band Program has a long history of excellence. Students learn that good behavior and citizenship are the driving force behind the success of the band. Without these things it is impossible to reach maximum potential as a musician.

Since 1980 the Owasso High School Band has earned 120 OSSAA State Sweepstakes Awards. The band program has five contest-level concert bands.

The concert bands have participated in festivals in Chicago, Washington D.C., Orlando, St. Louis, Houston, Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Indianapolis, Dallas and San Antonio. The PRIDE of Owasso is a 1997 recipient of the Sudler Flag of Honor and a 2004 recipient of the Sudler Shield. These international awards are presented by the John Philip Sousa Foundation to outstanding concert bands (the “Flag”) and marching bands (the “Shield”). Owasso High School is the only band in Oklahoma to have received both awards. The Owasso Wind Ensemble has performed twice at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic (1999, 2012).

They have been a finalist at Bands of America Regionals in Arlington, San Antonio, Atlanta and Las Vegas and were the 2012 Champions of the St. Louis Super-Regional. The Owasso Band program’s commitment is to help children develop life skills through the art of music. Among these skills are discipline, citizenship, responsibility, and leadership. We also hope to create a love and understanding of music through performance, preferably top-notch performance, which will last a lifetime.
